The Level 3 Music Educator qualifications are run in conjunction with Access to Music, the country's largest provider of popular music education, and are designed for those who are interested in pursuing music teaching as a career.
Aimed at those who don't necessarily have much experience of music teaching, the course gives a solid grounding in lesson planning and delivering lessons. Additional options include music event management, music research, delivering masterclasses and working with special educational needs.
The qualifications are ideal for musicians aged 18+ who want to work as:
- Music teachers
- Music tutors
- Music facilitators
- Peripatetic instrumental teachers
- Music workshop/masterclass leaders
Qualifications
Music Educator qualifications are available at Level 3 and are offered in two different sizes: Certificate and Diploma. A qualification will be awarded upon successful completion of units carrying sufficient credit for that qualification. Each credit broadly equates to 10 learning hours.
These qualifications are accredited with:
OfQual,
DCELLS and
CCEA.
How Does This Qualification Compare?
Rockschool's qualifications for music educators are unique in that they were developed in partnership between two organisations specialising in the music industry, ensuring that the most up-to-date trends, technological, commercial and business advances are embedded within them.
Most teaching qualifications are at Level 4 and above and are generic in nature. This qualification is music specific and will allow musicians to develop their skills in a relevant and meaningful framework.
One of the key features of the qualification is work-based placement. It is intended that learners observe sessions and undertake music teaching/facilitation within an educational institution. This may vary from a school or FE college, to a recording studio facility, to a community centre or prison.
