Band Based Keys exams put performance at the heart of the exam. Each grade has a wide choice of repertoire that covers all the key skills required at that level. Our tunes are written to reflect popular rock styles and inspire improvisation.
Grades
Rockschool's Band Based Keyboards qualifications are offered at Entry Level and Grades 1-5. They're also accredited and have respective
QCF credit values and
UCAS points.

The qualifications regulators of

accredit Graded Music Exams, Entry Level (Debut) to Grade 8.
The qualifications regulator of Scotland (SQA Accreditation)
accredit Graded Music Exams, Grades 1 to 8.
Grade Exam or Performance Certificate
There are two types of exams offered by Rockschool, at each grade; Grade Exams and Performance Certificates.
What's the difference? Grade Exams consist of 3 performance pieces, technical exercises and musicianship tests. Whereas Performance Certificates consists
of 5 performance pieces and no other tests or exercises.

Instrument Specification
Keyboards must have at least 61 keys with the following patches: acoustic piano, electric piano, organ, strings and synth. At Grades 4 and 5 candidates will also need a sustain pedal.
